The aim of Weightlifting is simple: to lift more weight than anyone else. The result is pure sporting theatre of the most dramatic kind, and a real spectator favourite.

Weightlifting competitions at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London will be held from 28 July to 7 August in the ExCeL venue. Fifteen gold medals will be awarded and 260 athletes expected to take part (156 men and 104 women).

Competitors in Weightlifting are divided into 15 weight categories, eight for men and seven for women, with each one a medal event at London 2012.

All entries for Wrestling will be confirmed following the sport entries deadline on 9 July 2012.
